MMK Gets Gold Again For Sports
On Wednesday evening, MMK were invited to attend the Barnet Partnership for School Sports (BPSS) annual awards evening, held at The Arts Depot Theatre in North Finchley to receive both our Key Stage 1 and Key Stage Gold award certificates and plaques.
The evening began with a solo rhythmic gymnastics dance from a very talented Barnet schoolgirl, followed by the 15 awards being presented for both Primary and Secondary sports achievements. In front of a packed theatre, one by one, the sports awards were handed out, with the shortlisted children and staff called up on stage to be crowned winners and runners up.
It was then the turn of the BPSS Games Mark awards to be presented and Mr Thorne was called up to receive the Key Stage 1 Gold Award, shortly followed by the invite to go up and collect the Key Stage 2 Gold Award, together with winners from other schools. Mr Thorne said "it certainly was a very proud moment to receive these awards, but its all down to the efforts of our MMK children. The competitions and tournaments they participated in throughout the last academic year gave the children the opportunity to represent MMK at sport but also to promote healthier lifestyles through sport."
Enormous thanks to Miss Coleman and Mrs Aspis, who also attended the awards evening with Mr Thorne, and we are now turning our sights towards winning the Platinum Award for 4 Gold awards in a row. Hopefully, that will be achieved by next July.
